A Brief Timeline About Me

13.5 billion years ago matter, energy, and time came into being.

A bit after that I was born in Portland, Oregon, on planet earth.

A bit after that I went to art school at the University of Oregon and the Rhode Island School of Design. My degrees were in photography because I like conceptual art projects and trying to think through what images are doing. For example, for my master’s thesis, my art was getting better at basketball, and documenting that process, and for that I was conferred a master of fine art. I still make art once in a while, that can be found here

A bit after art school, I decided I wanted to work as an advertising creative, which was not as easy as you might think, even for a recently conferred master of fine art who made weird projects. So, while living in New York City, I worked on a food truck and made an advertising portfolio, because I learned, painfully slowly, that was a necessity in the advertising universe. Some of that DIY portfolio is archived here

A bit after that, I worked as a copywriter at Wieden+Kennedy in Portland. Making work for brands such as KFC, Old Spice, Instagram, Fisher-Price, Facebook, and more. Some of it won awards. A lot of that work is on this very website, so you can be the judge.

After six years at WK, I went freelance.

Who knows what will happen next on this timeline, in this ever expanding universe?

Maybe we can make some brand work that survives until the inevitable heat death of the universe.
